Obama Bankrolled Attack on the Benghazi Consulate

…According to Arabic News Channel TV14 and reported on by Egypt Daily News, Obama sent an eight billion dollar secret bribe to the Muslim Brotherhood to guarantee that the Egyptian Sinai Peninsula be turned over to the terrorist group Hamas. Hamas, a Muslim Brotherhood sister group, works directly with Ansar al-Sharia in the Sinai Peninsula. Channel TV14 goes on to say that the agreement was signed by Mohammed Morsi and the Muslim Brotherhood’s second in command, Khairat Al-Shater, now under house arrest in Egypt, who says he has documents that will put Obama in prison!

But it gets worse: the eight billion dollars that Obama sent to the Muslim Brotherhood was shared with Ansar al-Sharia, the group that attacked our consulate and CIA Annex in Benghazi on September 11, 2012.

If all of this proves to be true, Barack Hussein Obama funded the attack on the Benghazi consulate and CIA Annex. Barack Hussein Obama funded the assassination of  U.S. ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other Americans. Barack Hussein Obama is therefore an accessory to murder, not to mention a traitor!

Obama Welcomes Illegal Immigrants With Open Arms [CLICK HERE]

immigrants

Changes to an Immigration bill will put deportation efforts of illegal immigrants on hold.

For a period of time lasting a few years, illegal immigrants will not be allowed to be deported without a fair chance at applying for amnesty.

It’s even more scary when you think about dangerous criminals entering the US and being allowed to stay with little resistance from the US government. When this law passes, a known illegal immigrant gang member could be immune from deportation as long as he “appears” to be eligible for amnesty.

Isn’t the government supposed to protect and ensure the safety of it’s people?

From the official White House release:

Michelle and I send our warmest greetings to Muslims celebrating Eid al-Fitr here in the United States and around the world. During the past month, Muslims have honored their faith through prayer and service, fasting and time spent with loved ones.

And:

To help the many Syrians in need this Eid al-Fitr, the United States is providing an additional $195 million in food aid and other humanitarian aid, bringing our humanitarian contribution to the Syrian people to over $1 billion since the crisis began. For millions of Americans, Eid is part of a great tapestry of America’s many traditions, and I wish all Muslims a blessed and joyful celebration. Eid Mubarak.

It begins: Major demand to impeach Obama

Watergate investigator Bob Woodward of the Washington Post compares Barack Obama to Richard Nixon. Members of Congress say it’s about time to consider it. Rock legend Ted Nugent says Obama’s constitutional violations make him eligible. And even Code Pink co-founder Medea Benjamin has called for Obama’s impeachment.

Now you can join a petition that calls on Congress to immediately investigate the “unconstitutional and impeachable offenses” of Obama.

The document is addressed to members of Congress, who have the responsibility to make sure government officials don’t go outside the bounds of the U.S. Constitution and to bring appropriate retribution when they do.

The petition cites a number of scandals in just the last few weeks and months.

Among them are the “lethal and prolonged terrorist attack in Benghazi, Libya, and the subsequent ‘Watergate-era cover-up.’” And then there’s the big – and getting bigger – scandal involving the federal government’s use of the Internal Revenue Service to harass and attack “conservative groups.”

There’s also the spying and harassment of journalists and the Associated Press.

“Top constitutional attorneys from across the political spectrum now agree that Obama has committed certain specific offenses that unquestionably rise to the level of impeachable ‘high crimes and misdemeanors,” the petition explains.

And that’s even before the issue of “Obama’s policy of targeted assassinations of U.S. citizens without any constitutionally required due process – including the drone assassination of an American-born 16-year-old as he was eating dinner.”

Oh, and let’s not forget the “disastrous ‘Fast and Furious’ operation in which approximately 2,000 firearms were directed from U.S. gun shops across the U.S.-Mexico border and into the hands of members of Mexican drug cartels.”

And Obama’s decision to refuse to obey his oath of office and defend the Defense of Marriage Act.

That’s all in addition to the alleged illegal “recess” appointments of several officials as well as the Obama Justice Department’s refusal to prosecute voter intimidation, his appointment of 30 “czars” and just general contempt for Congress and the American people.

The petition states: “Therefore, we the undersigned urge Congress to immediately undertake a full and impartial investigation into the many blatantly unconstitutional actions of Barack Obama. For members of Congress, each of whom has also sworn a solemn oath to uphold the Constitution, to allow a president to routinely flout the Supreme Law of the land without being held accountable is equally repugnant to a free country and a free press.”

Tens of thousands already are on board with the effort, which is just the latest in a long string of calls for impeachment or an investigation.

It has been brought up by several WND columnists in just the past few days.

Nat Hentoff wrote that Obama, “since taking office, has continually limited the First Amendment, the most singular and powerful right that distinctly identifies Americans from residents in all other countries on Earth.”

Columnist Bert Prelutsky took it further.

“I want Obama to go through the process because he has it coming. In totalitarian states, after all, the people have no other recourse except to take to the streets and spill blood. But we have available the process of impeachment, and Obama should be forced to defend his contemptible lies and actions,” he wrote. “If for no other reason than his unbearable arrogance, the schmuck should have to pay a penalty. For instance, when a White House reporter asked him to justify spying on the Associated Press, Obama said, ‘I’ve still got 60,000-plus troops in Afghanistan and I still have a bunch of intelligence officers around the world.’ No, sir, the United States has 60,000-plus troops in Afghanistan and a bunch of intelligence officers around the world.”

A panel of top constitutional experts convened by WND blasted Obama’s actions in office. Bruce Fein, the legal scholar who is best known for having drafted articles of impeachment against former President Bill Clinton for perjury after he lied under oath, said Obama’s orders to drone-kill a terror suspect were “tantamount to murder.”

“You can’t have democracy and the rule of law if you never get to know what the facts are and you just have to accept what the government says they are. If you don’t have a trial, that’s the definition of tyranny.”

Louis Fisher, a scholar in residence at the Constitution Project, said of Obama’s appointment of “czars”: “That is a big deal. A lot of people say, ‘Well, that’s been going on a long time.’ In our form of government, citizens vote for representatives and representatives pass laws. You have people heading departments, and they’re confirmed. There’s an understanding that we will call you up whenever we need to. … Congress passed legislation saying there’d be no funds for three czars, and they were named in the bill. Obama signed it into the law, but in the signing statement, he said that’s unconstitutional because he has the ‘prerogative’ to get the advice he needs to implement statutes. Well, c’mon Obama. You don’t have a prerogative to bring into the White House anybody you want at any salary. It’s all done by law. It goes back to 1978 where Congress passed legislation saying you have this number of people and these are their salaries and Congress can increase or decrease that at any time.”

And Herbert Titus, counsel to the law firm William J. Olson who previously taught constitutional law, common law and other subjects for 30 years at five different American Bar Association-approved law schools, said Obama’s military actions in Libya are a strong argument for impeachment.

“That’s the one that stands out. It’s unprecedented. It doesn’t even fit within any of the precedents that have been set since Korea.”

Obama should have seen such a move coming. A recent poll said half of Americans say he should be impeached.

“It may be early in the process for members of Congress to start planning for impeachment of Barack Obama, but the American public is building a serious appetite for it,” said Fritz Wenzel of Wenzel Strategies, which did the telephone poll. It has a margin of error of 4.36 percent.

Half or nearly half of those surveyed said they believed Obama should be impeached for the trifecta of scandals now consuming Washington.

On the issue of the Benghazi scandal, in which four Americans were killed after terror threats were ignored, 50.1 percent of Americans said Obama should be impeached. That included 27.6 percent of the responding Democrats.

On the IRS harassment of conservative and Christian organizations? Forty-nine percent said they agree that impeachment is appropriate, including 24.4 percent of the Democrats.

And on the fishing trip the Obama administration took into AP reporters’ telephone records in search of a security breach that may have been done by his own administration, 48.6 percent said impeachment is appropriate. That included 26.1 percent of the Democrats.

Former Reagan speechwriter Peggy Noonan wrote that the country is in the midst of the worst Washington scandal since Watergate.

“The reputation of the Obama White House has, among conservatives, gone from sketchy to sinister, and, among liberals, from unsatisfying to dangerous<” she said. “No one likes what they’re seeing. The Justice Department assault on the Associated Press and the ugly politicization of the Internal Revenue Service have left the administration’s credibility deeply, probably irretrievably damaged. They don’t look jerky now, they look dirty. The patina of high-mindedness the president enjoyed is gone.

Noonan said the Obama, “as usual, acts as if all of this is totally unconnected to him.”

“He’s shocked, it’s unacceptable, he’ll get to the bottom of it. He read about it in the papers, just like you. But he is not unconnected, he is not a bystander. This is his administration. Those are his executive agencies. He runs the IRS and the Justice Department,” she continued. “A president sets a mood, a tone. He establishes an atmosphere. If he is arrogant, arrogance spreads. If he is too partisan, too disrespecting of political adversaries, that spreads too. Presidents always undo themselves and then blame it on the third guy in the last row in the sleepy agency across town.”

It’s even being compared to Watergate, the break-in that ultimately led to the resignation of President Richard M. Nixon.

That was the assessment of no less than Woodward, whose reporting on Watergate eventually snared the sitting president.

Woodward said recently: “If you read through all these emails, you see that everyone in the government is saying, ‘Oh, let’s not tell the public that terrorists were involved, people connected to al Qaeda. Let’s not tell the public that there were warnings.’ And I have to go back 40 years to Watergate when Nixon put out his edited transcripts to the conversations, and he personally went through them and said, ‘Oh, let’s not tell this, let’s not show this.’ I would not dismiss Benghazi. It’s a very serious issue.”

A Republican congressman also recently brought up the subject.

“I would say yes. I’m not willing to take it [impeachment] off to take it off the table, but that’s certainly not what we’re striving for,” Rep. Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, told CNN.

“We want truth, we want to bring the people who perpetrated the terrorism in Benghazi to be brought to justice, and we want to have the president do what he has said he would always do. And that is be open and transparent. Thus far, the White House has not done that.”

Earlier, Chaffetz, in an interview with the Salt Lake Tribune, was asked if impeachment was within the realm of possibility.

“It’s certainly a possibility,” he told the paper. “That’s not the goal but given the continued lies perpetrated by this administration, I don’t know where it’s going to go. … I’m not taking it off the table. I’m not out there touting that but I think this gets to the highest levels of our government and integrity and honesty are paramount.”

Chaffetz has been championing the call to probe the Sept. 11, 2012, attack on the Benghazi compound that left four Americans dead, including Ambassador Chris Stevens.

Sen. James Inhofe, R-Okla., said last week impeachment was possible over the “most egregious cover-up in American history.

“People may be starting to use the I-word before too long,” Inhofe told radio host Rusty Humphries, according to The Hill.

“The I-word meaning impeachment?” Humphries asked.

“Yeah,” Inhofe responded.

Additionally, radio host Mike Huckabee, the former Arkansas governor and one-time presidential candidate, predicted Obama won’t serve out his full second term because of his complicity in a cover-up over Benghazi.

Other members of Congress who have suggested impeachment for a variety of reasons in recent years include Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C.; Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn.; Rep. Steve Stockman, R-Texas; Rep. Louie Gohmert, R-Texas; Rep. Trey Radel, R-Fla.; and Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa.

Others who have raised the subject rock legend and gun-rights defender Ted Nugent, who said there’s “no question” Obama should be impeached.

He blasted “the criminality of this government, the unprecedented abuse of power, corruption, fraud and deceit by the Chicago gangster-scammer-ACORN-in-chief.”

“It’s so diabolical,” he said.

Even Code Pink co-founder Medea Benjamin called for the impeachment of Obama over his policy of permitting drone strikes on American citizens overseas who are members of terrorist organizations.

On WABC Radio’s “Aaron Klein Investigative Radio,” Benjamin affirmed she believes the drone warfare is an impeachable offense.

New Arab Christian party announced in Israel

New Arab Christian party announced in Israel

Arab Christians from northern Israel who are tired of being lumped in with other Arabs who are antagonistic toward the Jewish state have launched a new political party that aims to make a positive contribution to the Jewish state.

Under the banner “Sons of the New Covenent - the Israeli Christian Party,” the faction hopes to take part in future Knesset elections. [Ed. Note - In Hebrew the name of the party is Brit Hahadashah, the Hebrew translation of New Testament]

In an interview with Israeli daily newspaper Israel Hayom, party founder Bishara Shlayan said that after encountering difficulties in helping his son and nephew join the Israeli army, he and other like-minded Christians established a forum to encourage Christian enlistment in the IDF.

That forum has significantly boosted the number of young local Christians joining the IDF over the past year, and resulted in the Israeli army appointing a dedicated coordinator for the Arab Christian sector.

But Shlayan knew they had to go a step further.

"We saw that we have to establish a political party, so we advertised in local Arab newspapers and the initiative took off [attracting] Christians who recognize that the Land of Israel belongs to the Jews," Shlayan explained to the newspaper.

He lamented that for 65 years the Christian community has allowed anti-Israel Arab parties to represent it in the Knesset, noting that these parties are working for a Muslim agenda that holds no benefit for the Christians.

Shlayan insisted that even if one does not agree with every political decision, “a man belongs to his state. This is integrity. You must be a true citizen…and the first requirement [of a citizen] of Israel, and I support this, is the need to understand that this is the land of the Jewish people.”

Islamists in Egypt abused their power

Islamists in Egypt abused their power

This was first published in the Miami Herald

Once again, the American administration finds itself in the situation where it doesn’t really know exactly how to deal with an enigmatic Middle East. This time, it’s Egypt that is teaching Americans how complex this turbulent region is.

From the standpoint of Washington, something good must have happened in Egypt in the last two years. After decades of dictatorship, it seemed that democracy had eventually prevailed. The many Egyptians who took to Tahrir Square in January 2011 chanting, “Enough is enough,” finally got , in the eternal words of President Lincoln, “a government of the people, by the people, for the people.”

But did they really? The Muslim Brotherhood movement, which for eight decades has prepared itself for taking over the government in Egypt, managed to snatch the revolution from the hands of the people who had generated it. Gaining power by using free elections — an instrument of democracy in which they have never believed — the Muslim Brothers quickly drafted a constitution that was meant to turn Egypt into a country ruled entirely by the laws of Islam.

This step was not only an abuse of the will of many Egyptians, but it also failed in every other aspect. Egypt, already suffering from chronic socio-economic malaise, found itself in a much more serious situation, which deteriorated last week into a popular revolt. The army, being the only functioning organ in the Egyptian executive branch, felt it was its duty in such a crisis to step in, and while twisting the democratic rules of the game, restore public order and thus serve the best interests of the nation.

This is not unprecedented, even in Western democracies. It was none other than President Lincoln, who, in the first days of the Civil War, found it necessary to suspend a constitutional right, the habeas corpus writ — the right of every citizen to a due process of law. Defending his act before a perplexed Congress, in a special session on July 4, 1861, Lincoln, the master of explaining the most difficult issues in few simple words, said: “Are all the laws, but one, to go unexecuted, and the government itself go to pieces, lest that one be violated?”

The Congress endorsed the president’s action, but some remained unconvinced, among them the chief justice at that time, Roger Taney. In his Ex parte Merryman opinion he argued that while the president’s duty was to “faithfully execute” the laws, it didn’t imply that he had to execute them himself, or to use the military in order to usurp judiciary powers. An angry Lincoln threatened to arrest the chief justice.

Gen. Abdel Fattah el-Sissi, Egypt’s strongman, graduated from Pennsylvania’s U.S. Army War College in 2006. I’m not sure that when Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel called him last week that the two actually discussed that old American constitutional debate. I’m pretty confident, though, that hanging in the air was the issue of much-needed U.S. aid to Egypt, when U.S. law prohibits the administration from supplying aid to countries that have gone through a military coup. I guess, then, that between Hagel’s lines there was a silent wish that whatever happens in Egypt, it shouldn’t look like a military coup.

At first, it looked like the plan had worked. In his dramatic televised speech, Gen. el-Sissi, surrounded by an impressive representation of the Egyptian civic and religious communities (not the ousted Muslim Brothers, of course), declared that the military would stay out of politics, and in a distant reverse of President Lincoln’s feud with his chief justice, the Egyptian general announced that the president of the Constitutional Court will serve as an interim president until elections are held.

This was a very powerful speech, much better than the one el-Sissi made in 2011, when, after some female Egyptian protesters had been subjected to “virginity tests” conducted by the army, he justified the humiliating acts. Just a reminder of what a long way Egypt still has to go when it comes to real democracy.

Anyway, to complicate things even further, Sen. Patrick Leahy, chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, spoiled the party by declaring that U.S. law is clear: “Aid is cut off when a democratically elected government is deposed by military coup or decree.”

I don’t envy President Obama, who will have to mobilize his best oratory to explain to his fellow Americans what’s going on in this highly delicate matter. I guess he will not dare tell them the plain truth — that in certain areas of the world, Western democracy is not the cure to all problems. On the contrary, when used by un-democratic forces, it makes the lives of the people involved even worse.

Remember the elections in Iran in 1979, which doomed the Iranian people to the oppressive rule of the ayatollahs, and the 2006 elections in Gaza, which left the people there suffering under Hamas.

Inscription from time of King David found in Jerusalem

Inscription from time of King David found in Jerusalem

Israeli archaeologists working in the “City of David” section of Jerusalem have unearthed the oldest alphabetical written text ever discovered in the city.

The inscription appears on the edge of a large pithos, a type of ceramic jar, and was found in a landfill used by kings David and Solomon to support their expansion of Jerusalem in the 10th century BC.

The inscription is in a proto-Canaanite language, and so its meaning is still unknown, though it likely identifies the owner of the jar. Jerusalem still had many Jebusite residents who used their ancestral written language during the time of Israel’s two most famous kings.

The oldest Hebrew inscription ever found in Jerusalem dates to the 7th century BC, though this latest find offers hope that older artifacts might still be discovered.

Israel to Obama: Stop being so naive on Egypt

Israel to Obama: Stop being so naive on Egypt

A senior Israeli government official on Tuesday said US President Barack Obama must stop being so naive on Egypt, and should avoid the same kind of failed policies Washington implemented during the last Egyptian revolution.

Like most Egyptians today, Israel largely blames Obama for facilitating the hijacking of the 2011 revolution by the Muslim Brotherhood.

It was Obama’s “naivete” that led him to engage with the Muslim Brotherhood as former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak was being ousted, the Israeli official told Israel Radio. And it was that American engagement that provided the Muslim Brotherhood with the legitimacy it needed to seize power.

The current situation in Egypt is likely to be protracted, as the Muslim Brotherhood is not expected to give up power without a fight. If the military is to maintain order and prevent a relapse to Islamist rule, it will need international support, and a continuation of American financial aid.

Israel is lobbying Washington to maintain aid to the Egyptian army, even though American law mandates freezing the transfer of funds if it is determined that a military coup has occurred.

Arab pastor: Our future is with Israel

Arab pastor: Our future is with Israel

Father Gabriel Nadaf, an Arab Christian priest from the area of Nazareth, told Israeli media a week ago that the future of Arab Christians is in becoming one with the Jewish state.

Israel Today has several times in recent months reported on the activities of Father Nadaf and a growing movement in Nazareth to encourage young Arab Christians to join the Israeli army and fully integrate into Israeli society.

Predictably, that effort has not been popular with Arab Muslims and more antagonistic Arab Christians, and Father Nadaf has received many death threats. The priest has also been forbidden by the Greek Orthodox Patriarch in Jerusalem from speaking further to the Israeli media.

But just days before that ban was imposed, Father Nadaf managed to explain to the Israeli daily newspaper Israel Hayom why he and other Arab Christians are engaged in such a risky endeavor.

"We want young Christians to be completely integrated into Israeli society, and this means also carrying an equal share of the burden," said the fearless priest. "Our future as a Christian minority is wrapped up in the future of the State of Israel."

Contrary to the claims of loud-mouthed Arab members of the Israeli Knesset, Father Nadaf insisted that Arab Christians “feel secure in Israel,” and enjoy equal rights, and therefore should shoulder equal obligations.

The battle for the hearts and minds of young Arab Christians in Israel is heating up, and at present far too few are coming to Father Nadaf’s aid, whether out of fear or apathy.

While additional Christian support would no doubt be very welcome, what Father Nadaf really wants to see if the State of Israel itself openly and publicly support Arab Christians who buck the anti-Israel trend.

"If our youth see that Israel is supporting their integration into Israeli society, the word will spread," he said. "But, if the state turns its back on us, those who incite [against Israel] will win."

A number of Israeli politicians have come out in support of Nadaf, including Justice Minister Tzipi Livni. Unfortunately, too many still do not see this as a simple black-and-white situation. The bulk of the Arab world, with which Israel is trying to make peace, strongly opposes the kind of integration Father Nadaf is seeking, and so many Israeli leaders feel they must tread lightly.

Meanwhile, a growing number of young Arab Christians are joining Israel’s army and boldly speaking out on behalf of the Jewish state. Some are even going so far as to take a Christian Zionist position, noting that Jesus was a Jew, and so their allegiance must lie with the Jewish state.

Hopefully the increased Israeli media coverage of this phenomenon will result in the kind of backing Father Nadaf and others need to keep them in this important fight.

Shimon Peres returns to his roots

Shimon Peres returns to his roots

Israeli President Shimon Peres recently paid an emotional visit to the national headquarters of the “Borochov” Labor Youth movement where he served as a counselor in 1940s pre-state Israel.

Hundreds of current participants in the movement flocked to the visiting president in a reminder of his days as “counselor Shimon.”

Peres addressed the opening of the summer holidays and called on youth across Israel to take advantage of the summer freedom to attend camps and participate in similar youth movements.

"This summer, I recommend getting to know the land, not in airplanes and cars, but on foot," said the president. "The State of Israel is rich with hidden beauty, and this is the best way to learn to learn the history of what we have done here."

The visit was clearly very nostalgic for the president.

"The Labor Youth marked the peak of my happiness," Peres said as he reminisced about his days as a counselor. "We were young, happy, busy, and working. Clearing land for new settlements and working with our hands. That settlement work laid the foundation for all of our advancements today."

Dennis Miller interviews Walid Shoebat about Malik Obama / IRS Scandal

JERUSALEM-ON-THE-LINE

News Update June 5th 2013

JNN NEWS, P.O. Box 7411, Jerusalem 91073, Israel

“For I will not trust in my bow, nor shall my sword save me. But You have saved us from our enemies, and have put to shame those who hated us.” Ps 44:6-7

OBAMA SLAPS SANCTIONS ON IRAN’S CURRENCY AND AUTO INDUSTRY: The Obama administration on Monday announced new sanctions on Iran, targeting the country’s currency and automobile industry. An executive order by President Barack Obama authorizes sanctions on foreign financial institutions that make transactions in Iran’s currency, the rial, or keep accounts denominated in the rial outside the country. The new rules, which go into effect July 1, penalize the sale of goods and services to Iran’s auto industry, a key part of the country’s economy. The latest executive order is the ninth Obama has signed on Iran since the start of his presidency and the sixth in the last two years. The country’s Finance Minister, Shamseddin Hosseini, recently said that international sanctions against his country had pushed inflation above 30% and were causing “a lot of trouble.” At the same time he stressed that Iran’s nuclear drive would not be halted. (Arutz-7)

UN NUCLEAR CHIEF SAYS TALKS WITH IRAN ARE GOING AROUND IN CIRCLES: Talks with Iran over its nuclear program are “going around in circles,” Yukiya Amano, director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency, said Monday. Addressing the IAEA’s Board of Governors, Amano maintained that, “Iran is not providing the necessary cooperation to enable us to provide credible assurance about the absence of undeclared nuclear material and activities. The Agency therefore cannot conclude all nuclear material in Iran is in peaceful activities. Amano said that “despite the intensified dialogue between the Agency and Iran since January 2012, during which time ten rounds of talks have been held, no agreement has been reached on the structured approach document. “This is not the right way to address issues of such great importance to the international community, including Iran. We need to achieve concrete results without further delay to restore international confidence in the peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear activities,” he added. (Arutz-7) Meanwhile, Iranian leaders are laughing behind the scenes at the impotency of the West - while the Islamic Republic rolls ahead with its nuclear weapons development program. Very soon, according to many experts, it will be too late to do anything about it.

ASSAD BOASTING MASSES OF RUSSIAN ARMS: Syrian President Bashar Assad already has several air defense systems from Moscow, according to analysts who monitor arms shipments. While they agree the S-300s are more accurate and have greater range than Assad’s current weapons system they say the Syrian leader is far from powerless without them. “We have seen over the past few years Russia supplying several different air defense systems,” said a senior researcher in the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (Sipri), which tracks weapons flows worldwide. “They [Syrian government] have really increased their capability. The missiles are both short and long range. If the S-300s do arrive, that would top it all off.” Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon responded to Assad’s recent arrogant posturing with “Israel will know how to react,” alluding to the fact that as previously, Israel retains the right to target many more stockpiles of Syrian arms in order to dissuade Assad from considering retaliation, at the price of total devastation. (Arutz-7) “Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; but we will remember the name of the Lord our God.” Ps 20:7

ISRAEL’S DEFENSE MINISTER: WE’RE PREPARING FOR A DIFFICULT 2014: Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon said Monday, that his ministry’s portion of recently-enacted budget decreases will translate to operational and training cuts and that regular soldiers will have heavier workloads due to slashes in funding for reserves. He said the short-term cuts must have long-term responses and “We’re preparing for a very difficult year in 2014.” Ya’alon added that Israel would not get involved in the Syrian civil war as long as it didn’t hurt Israeli interests, including the transfer of advanced weapons - missiles or chemical weapons - to Hizbullah. He said that Hizbullah is moving its elite forces into Syria, and that the country has become a battleground between the Shia and Sunni worlds with each side “massacring the other.” Regarding the Israeli-Palestinian issue, the defense minister said that Israel does not wish to rule over the Palestinians. “We are ready to launch negotiations as long as there are no preconditions,” he said, “and then discuss everything, not just borders.” However, he added, “the Palestinians keep avoiding negotiations by setting preconditions. We are not willing to pay just for the Palestinians to agree to sit at the table.” (Ha’aretz/INN) The peace talks broke down in 2010, when Abbas refused to negotiate with Israel even though it agreed to his precondition and froze construction in Judea, Samaria and eastern Jerusalem for 10 months. Instead, he has continued to impose new preconditions on talks with Israel.

ABBAS WANTS ISRAEL T0 RELEASE 120 TERRORISTS AS A PRECONDITION FOR RESTARTING TALKS: PA President Mahmoud Abbas has made the resumption of peace talks with Israel conditional on the release of roughly 120 “heavy-duty” murderers. One of the murderers was Fatah operative Ala Abu Sata. On Dec. 31, 1993, he and a fellow attacker stabbed to death David Bublil and Haim Weizmann in their sleep in an apartment in Ramle. He mutilated the bodies of his victims, cutting off their ears as proof of his act. Another is Issa Moussa, a Hamas operative, who was involved in the kidnapping and murder of police officer Nissim Toledano, and two other police officers, Daniel Hazut and Mordechai Yisrael, in 1993. It was one thing to release 1,027 terrorists in exchange for IDF soldier Gilad Shalit. It’s another thing entirely to release murderers in exchange for resuming the talks. (Israel Hayom) Pray that twisted tactics of PA leader Abbas to destroy, rather than to make peace via sound and rational negotiations with the Jewish state, will be thwarted at every turn.

ATTACKS PLANNED BY TERRORIST FREED IN SCHALIT DEAL THWARTED: Security forces in May arrested a Hamas member who planned on carrying out a kidnapping and shooting attacks. He was operating under the instructions of a terror suspect who was released in the Gilad Schalit exchange and then deported, the Israel Security Agency announced Monday. The Ramallah suspect is 26-year-old Bahar Sa’ad. During his questioning, it became apparent that Sa’ad had met with Hashem Ibrahaim Hajaz, a Hamas member sentenced to 10 life sentences for his involvement in the murder of 10 Israelis between 2001 and 2003. Hajaz, who is currently based in Qatar, was released as part of the 2011 deal, in which Israel set free and deported over 1,000 Palestinian security prisoners. “During their meeting in Jordan, Sa’ad was recruited to Hamas and instructed to advance shooting and kidnapping attacks against settlers and soldiers upon his return to Judea and Samaria” the ISA said. Sa’ad was also instructed to recruit additional members. He was arrested before he could act. The ISA said the investigation showed once again, how prisoners that were released in the 2011 deal had returned to terrorism. (INN)

POLIO WAVE HITS MUSLIMS BECAUSE OF NIGERIAN’S PARANOIA: According to a leading expert on Islam, Daniel Pipes, the dreaded polio disease is resurgent in the Muslim world, because of one man’s paranoia. Ten years ago, writes Pipes, polio was on the verge of eradication, when Ibrahim Datti Ahmed, president of the Supreme Council for Sharia in Nigeria and a physician, suggested in mid-2003 the vaccination program in his country was part of a Western conspiracy to render Muslim children infertile. “His call for an end to the polio immunization campaign touched a nerve and spread to other Muslim religious leaders in Nigeria, causing the vaccination process to slow down and incidences of the disease to pick up. From Nigeria, this dual phenomenon of conspiracy theory and re-appearance of the disease then expanded to Muslims internationally,” writes Pipes, who has been following the resurgence of the disease over the years. “So closely connected have Islam and polio become that the Muslim-only pilgrimage to Mecca became a major mechanism of transmitting the disease to faraway places like Indonesia.”  By now, he writes, Ahmed’s paranoia has sent the new wave of polio from Nigeria to Muslim populations in at least 17 other African countries and 6 Asian countries. “A single conspiracy-obsessed Islamist,” Pipes sums up, “equipped with an organization and credentials, has caused polio not to be eradicated but instead to win a new lease on life. Thus has radical Islam brought misery to another aspect of human life – and made fellow Muslims its principal victims.” (Arutz-7)

ISRAELI CHILD’S KIDNEY SAVES PALESTINIAN BOY: When three-year-old Noam Naor fell out of a window and was pronounced clinically dead, his parents decided to donate his organs. One kidney was given to another Israeli child. The other saved the life of a 10-year-old Palestinian. The Palestinian boy had been treated with dialysis at Jerusalem’s Shaare Zedek Medical Center for seven years before the match was found. The father of the boy who received the donation said he wanted to thank the donor’s family who gave his son “a new life after years of waiting.” (Times of Israel)

Sunday’s event was held under tighter security in the wake of the Boston Marathon bombings in March. On Saturday night, the Empire State Building was lit up in blue and white in honor of the event. (Arutz-7)
